Magnolia Mother / Daughter Weekend Getaway

My mom and I were long overdue for a mother/daughter trip as we have never taken one before. When thinking of a mother/daughter trip, Waco, Texas would not have been on the list but that is exactly where we went and I was excited about it. After much convincing, she decided that it would be okay to leave my dad for a few nights to go on a Magnolia tour in Waco.

We have been watching the Fixer Upper show on HGTV for years and of course we like Chip and Joanna Gaines! We flew into Dallas Love Field, got a Kia Soul and drove the hour and a half to Waco. After getting the rental car we stopped by Velvet taco in Dallas for lunch and it was delicious!

We arrived to our Airbnb in Waco and it was a really sweet two bedroom house which was perfect for my mom and I. After settling in we decided to take a drive to the Silos and to get coffee at Magnolia Press. Truth be told, I wasn’t expecting much from their coffee. I knew the aesthetics would be amazing but figured the coffee would be decent at best. I was so impressed with their coffee that I actually bought a bag!

After getting a latte, we went to meander the Magnolia grounds. It was nice and not very crowded as they were closing soon. It was about what I expected and it was too cute. We took some pictures and then decided to go to Moroso for dinner. It was fantastic, the pizza was delicious. Once our bellies were full we went to explore the downtown of Waco and then to Heritage Creamery for desert. It was very cute and the ice cream was great.

The next morning, we woke up as early as we could and went to the Magnolia Table for breakfast. There was a forty five minute wait which was to be expected. We got a coffee and hot cocoa from the coffee bar, went into the gift shop and walked around a bit while we waited. Magnolia Table was exactly as I pictured and very quintessential Chip and Joanna. The food was fantastic, the staff overly friendly and the restaurant was picturesque. After a huge breakfast, we went back to the Silos and it was packed! There was a line for the shop which surprised both of us. We waited in line and enjoyed the shop, it was a little smaller than I anticipated but very Magnolia.

After some light shopping, we stopped by the Sweet Tea truck as I kept seeing people with mason jars with a lid and cute stripped straw walking around. Turns out they were all drinking from the Alabama Sweet Tea Co. I must say it was so refreshing and worth the stop. Once I was hydrated on tea, we went to see the Little Shop on Bosque. It was TINY! After that stop we took ourselves on a Fixer Upper house tour hosted by myself. HA! We stopped by several houses that were on the show and we very respectfully stayed in our car and just admired from afar. We did have the opportunity to see Harp Designs and we stopped inside the little shop. We really enjoyed our house tour in Waco.

We went back to Magnolia and waited in line for the Silos Baking Co for some cupcakes. They were well organized and gave you ordering cards while you were in line so by the time you get inside ordering is easy. We ordered some cupcakes and cookie then went back to Magnolia Press for some coffee to have with our cupcakes. The cupcakes were delicious but very dense and rich.

After indulging, we stopped by the Findery. It was too cute! We did some shopping and then called it a day. We went back to your Airbnb for a break before venturing out to Revival for dinner. It was a cute little place and the food was delicious! We would highly recommend. After an exhausting day, we went back to the Airbnb for the night.

We took our time getting ready and headed back to Dallas for our flight the next day. We had such an amazing time in Waco. It was a trip I’ll never forget! It was the perfect first mother/daughter trip.
