RiNo, River North Art District in Denver continues to grow. Over the years I’ve watched the area flourish and become the place you want to be. In addition to the boutiques, restaurants, coffee shops and dispensaries, what RiNo is most known for is it’s art. The alley’s are filled, streets are lined, everywhere you look there is art in some form. You need to look all around you in this area or you may miss something. I go somewhat regularly and continue to see new art.
My favorite Denver artist is Casey Kawaguchi. He has several pieces up in Denver, the ones that I know of are in the following places: 32nd Street and Blake Street, 38th and Blake Street (this one is my favorite and what introduced me to the artist), 30th Street and Brighton Boulevard, 28th Street between Walnut Street and Blake Street (behind Stem Ciders), on the Cherry Creek bike path between Lawrence Street and Larimer Street, in the alley between Pearl Street and Washington Street which is between Colfax and 16yh Street. I’ve heard there is a piece on 13th and Santa Fe but I have not been by this location, it is also possible the building no longer exists.
I wish I knew more of the artists names, some pieces are signed but most are not. It is disappointing when a building gets demolished or a piece you like gets painted over. If you see something you like, make sure to take a picture as it may not be there tomorrow. I will continue to explore RiNo as it expands and new art pops up. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon, get a cup of coffee and take a walk around.
