Europe - Amsterdam, Prague, Paris

Ventured off to Europe with two friends, on the agenda was Amsterdam, Prague and Paris. Amsterdam was beautiful with all the canals, we rented a houseboat which seemed very fitting and it was a great experience. In Amsterdam we went to the Anne Frank House, took a boat tour, went to the shopping district and found a Bansky/Warhol exhibit at the MOCO. Genius. The museum itself was beautiful, it was an old house and still had all the charm of fireplaces, hardwood floors and crown moldings. I was so excited to see Bansky in a museum. It made my trip to Amsterdam. I was supposed to go with my friends to the Rijksmuseum the next day, but I found a second Bansky exhibit and had to skip it. So happy I did, it was the best museum exhibit I have been to as of yet.  I always feel like I should go to museums, but I don’t always like the more traditional ones.

Next stop was Prague. Not sure where to start...I am in love with Prague. It’s like being in a fairy tale with the architecture, the castle, Charles Bridge, the winding streets, the shops, coffee, old town, the Astronomical Clock, the square. Our apartment was gorgeous and one I would like to live in, the bedrooms had French doors, there was beautiful crown moldings, herringbone flooring, huge windows that opened out to a little square. The Charles Bridge was breathtaking and I’m fairly sure I took about five hundred pictures in one day. We took a boat tour, saw the Lennon wall, spent time in the old town square, watched the Astronomical Clock, toured the Prague Castle, saw golden lane and ate amazing food.

Final stop, Paris. Our apartment was in the heart of Le Marais, it could not have been a better location. We walked along the Seine, saw Notre Dame, went to the Eiffel Tower, had crepes, visited Montmartre and saw the Sacre Coeur, ate macaroons, croissants, tarts and amazing food, went shopping, sat in the Jardins du Luxembourg and drank an obscene amount of coffee. We took a day trip to the Palace of Versailles. It was stunning, the grounds were magnificent and it was all overwhelmingly stunning. It was bigger than I imagined at two thousand and fourteen acres with statues and fountains. We took a tour of the Kings Apartments, there was so much gold and many chandeliers, it was gorgeous. It was very over the top.

Amsterdam was okay, I would not want to make another visit but am happy to have added it to the list. Prague is another city like Paris to call my name and I cannot wait to return one day. It was a pleasant surprise as I was not anticipating falling in love with it the way that I did. I thoroughly enjoyed being in Paris again. It was nice to experience it more as I already have seen all the major attractions and didn’t need to spend most of the time taking photos. I was able to just be and it was lovely.
